Green Jobs Partnership
Green Jobs Partnership was set up to create “green jobs” for long-term unemployed young people across the country seeking the opportunity to work in community-led enterprises in their local areas.
The Green Jobs Partnership (GJP) was a pioneering consortium bringing together the leading national players in the community recycling and reuse sector representing over 700 community based organisations – Furniture Reuse Network (FRN), Community Recycling Network (CRN), National Community Wood Recycling Project (NCWRP), REalliance, with Aspire Foundation leading on contract management and employment opportunities.
Aspire Foundation created 89 green jobs within 24 community enterprises which were working to improve our environment. New recruits joined local teams working on a whole range of recycling and reuse activities in their local area from collections and sales to office management and campaigns, all as part of getting their first step in a successful career.
Green Jobs Partnership’s first consortium contract was thanks to funding from the Department of Work and Pension’s Future Jobs Fund, and was filled in partnership with Jobcentre Plus.
Chris Clements, Aspire Foundation’s Project Manager said, “The green sector jobs have a huge part to play in the future UK economy, and it’s has been extremely exciting to be able to give young people a first step on the career ladder with green enterprises in their local communities.
The Green Jobs Partnership consortium are aiming for this to be just the first of many initiatives promoting green sector jobs in the years ahead”
